Weather Synopsis for Saturday & Sunday

Look for snowy and breezy conditions today particularly along the west side of the Cascades from Hwy 2 south. Snow could be heavy at times if you travel near Snoqualmie Pass or the Cascade Volcanoes. These locations could pick-up a foot or more of snow during the day Saturday. Other areas should continue to see snow showers, but these will taper off quickly as you move east of the Cascade crest. You could even see a few sun breaks between precipitation in places like Hurricane Ridge, Mt Baker, and Washington Pass. Expect winds to increase in the afternoon bringing moderate winds even to lower elevations.

Most areas should see a break in the action during the late evening hours before the next storm system moves into the region. This break should be particularly shortlived for places like Mt Hood and the southern Washington Cascades. Look for snow to increase after midnight. As we move into Sunday, precipitation should be widespread across the region, spilling over the Cascades to Washington Pass and Mission Ridge. The brunt of this system appears to impact the southern Washington Volcanoes and Mt Hood area where you could find the greatest accumulations.
