Weather Synopsis for Sunday & Monday

More snow is on the way for our mountains as a low pressure system drops south along the British Columbia coast and teams up with cool NW flow. Good orographics will enhance snow showers for the Olymipcs, Washington Cascades and Mt. Hood all day today, with much heavier snowfall totals near the Cascade crest. A Puget Sound Convergence zone will likely form later this afternoon and evening adding additional snowfall to the central Cascades.

Strong surface high pressure dropping south in British Columbia later today will drive arctic air through the Fraser River Valley overnight. Expect drier conditions to develop over the north Cascades later tonight as much colder air filters in. Showers should become lighter late tonight into tomorrow morning, but a new low pressure system will impact the central Oregon coast on Monday. While this does not look as wet as the previous system, light snow should extend north to the central Cascades during the afternoon hours.
