Weather Synopsis for Tuesday & Wednesday
A weak front approaching from the northwest will bring an increase in clouds along the west slopes of the Cascades, Olympics today, an increase in alpine winds for all areas, and light precipitation from Snoqualmie Pass to the Mt. Baker area. Areas east of the Cascade crest and south of Hwy 2 and Mt. Hood will see higher freezing levels and more sunshine than clouds today but also strong W-NW winds that translate down to lower elevations.
Scattered light showers should dissipate overnight along the west slopes of the Cascades with very light precipitation expected. The winds will begin to back off on late tonight into Wednesday as weak upper level ridging moves over the area. We will once again see warm air offshore try to work its way inland on Wednesday, expect temperature inversions with above freezing temperatures affecting elevations above 6000' for the south Washington Cascades and Mt. Hood area. Low level clouds along the west slopes and Passes should give way to at least a partial sun breakout by Wednesday afternoon.
