Weather Synopsis for Saturday night through Monday
A region of upper-level low pressure continues to churn offshore sending mostly light, but locally intense shower activity into our region on SSW flow on Saturday. Temperatures have been slowly cooling with snow levels generally hovering just above 3000 ft. The pattern doesn't change markedly Saturday night, however, an organized disturbance rotating around the offshore low should bring about a transition from disorganized showers to a band of moderate rain and snowfall. The rain/snow band reaches the coast Saturday night and spreads throughout the region Sunday morning, and reaches peak intensity during the afternoon. Expect very subtle cooling through Saturday night, with a slight warm-up during the day on Sunday. Light E winds will enable the precipitation to fall on both sides of the Cascade Crest. At this time, it looks like Paradise and Mt Baker may get about 8-14" of snow with this impule, while most other areas above 3500 ft picking up 4-8". Lower elevations will get a mix of rain and snow or wet snow.
The upper low offshore drifts southward Sunday night, but enough cold air remains aloft to keep mostly light snow shower activity going. Snow showers decrease from north to south on Monday as the low drifts further away. Sun breaks will be likely in the northern and central Cascades, particularly during the afternoon hours.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Monday night through Wednesday
Chances of showers linger Monday night but become increasingly isolated. The upper trough moves onshore over southern Oregon early Tuesday, leaving a drying northerly flow across our region and much better chances for sunshine. Flow switches NWerly Tuesday night and a weak disturbance likely brings some light snow to the mountains of northwestern Washington on Wednesday along with slightly cooler temperatures.
